Best I've Read in 2011

I might haven't been blogging as much as I wanted to lately or read as much as I intended:

I challenged myself to read 100 books in 2011 and I 'only' read 90 so far, but does that make me a loser? Definitely not I think. I've never read so many books in one year and I'm pretty proud of myself considering that I spent the last three months abroad and had a lot of other things going on. Congratulations to everyone who made their challenge and to everyone who didn't. I think we readers deserve a compliment for every single page we read!

I haven't finished the challenge, but still I want to pick my favourites out of the books I read in 2011. Have a look at this picture to imagine how difficult that decision was:

Here it is:

The Best I've read in 2011

# 1

Divergent by Veronica Roth &

 We love this book because...

1) we enjoy the thrill of heights
2) all good things are four;)
3) it's simply electrifying
4) we love this new fascinating universe and all factions for their special talents
5) of the numerous different faces that can be found among our new favourite character cast

Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma

 The Verdict

FORBIDDEN- A story so real, cruel and heartfelt and all about being absolute it hurts. I have never read a novel that touched me and that left me so shattered and shaken like FORBIDDEN !

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

We love this book because...

1) of its numerous colours describing a pitch black time
2) of “The Word Shaker”
3) of lemon yellow hair
4) of the ten stolen books that give a girl and The Book Thief a personality
5) everyone of us wants to be called a “Saumensch” (“pig”)

City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare

We love this book because..

1) we really appreciate the DSAS
2) we like our portion of sarcasm hot
3) it's just the start of an epic second THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS cycle
4) of its high definition writing quality
5) of its masterly interplay with its prequel series, THE INFERNAL DEVICES

The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting

We love this book because...

1) of a natural heroine with supernatural talents
2) best friends always need to take care of each other
 3) the lost can be found and rested in peace
4) of its versatile writing style
5) of the best kissing scenes

Anna and the Frenchkiss by Stephanie Perkins

Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris - until she meets Etienne St. Clair: perfect, Parisian (and English and American, which makes for a swoon-worthy accent), and utterly irresistible. The only problem is that he's taken, and Anna might be, too, if anything comes of her almost-relationship back home.

 Summary by Goodreads

The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han

We love this book because...

1) it makes us want to sing summer hits all the time
2) of its wonderful memories
3) swimming frees our mind
4) one last summer wont overshadow the summers before it
5) a girl sometimes needs her big brothers

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

The Verdict

DAUGHTER OF SMOKE AND BONE- A surprise bag of extravagant characters, exotic settings and extraordinarily breath-taking plot twists and turns! Definitely a favourite!

Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver

I’m pushing aside the memory of my nightmare,
pushing aside thoughts of Alex,
pushing aside thoughts of Hana and my old school,
like Raven taught me to do.
The old life is dead.
But the old Lena is dead too.
I buried her.
I left her beyond a fence,
behind a wall of smoke and flame.

The Verdict

5/5 ***** ANGELFIRE is one of the best 2011 debuts, with damn hot protagonists and an ass-kicking story. A must-read!
