Be part of the Simon & Schuster Galley Grab programme

Even if you do not live in the US, you can get the chance to read new 2011 releases early. Beside netgalley and their network of publishers, you can enter the Simon & Schuster Galley Grab programme!

Because several bloggers (including me) got frustrated by the wording

"How do I find out about an eGalley for a specific title?
eGalley's are sent out by invitation only. When an eGalley becomes available, Simon & Schuster employees will notify their business contacts to inform them about the eGalley for that title."

I want to shortly explain the registering and getting eARCs process of the Simon& Schuster Galley Grab programme, starting with the assertion that everyone can register and doesn't need to wait for an invitation to get into the programme.

What you need to do, to be part of the Galley Grab:

1) Register here

2) Wait for your confirmation

3) Wait for a newsletter from Simon& Schuster including several eARCs you can download and access till they expire on their pub date

After getting my confirmation I got frustrated, because I couldn't access more than one or two random galleys. Fortunately I just needed to be patient and wait for the newsletter. So by "invitation" S&S means the newsletter you'll get once a month.

Anyone who hasn't registered yet? Get started now, so you can access many great S&S eARCs like...

Isn't this programme awesome? Have you got problems with the registration process or downloading galleys? Or are you already a huge fan and want to talk about a certain eARC?

  1. The wording confused me so bad. The whole thing was very vague. Thanks for this.

  2. Awesome! Thanks so much for sharing this info :-)
Have just registered.... Do you think they approve all requests?

  3. That is pretty neat. Thanks for the information.

  4. Thanks for sharing this, I was wondering what the Galley Grab was after I saw it on another blog! I've just registered, so now I just need to wait for a confirmation. *fingers crossed*

  5. I've got no idea if they approve all requests...I guess and hope so for you all! Love it:)

  9. I only registered after seeing your twitter conversation. Thanks for this post, the wording is really confusing! I got my first galleygrab title today. :)

  10. I was all excited until I read that they don't support Kindle. Bummer.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I got the conformation email but didn't get any newsletters...
I got the link download though...
    is it right???

    ReplyDelete
  12. @ lisa:) That's helpful info! Thanks for sharing. Hope they support kindle soon;)

@-ROCKprincess- Now you are supposed to wait for their February newsletter, but I can forward you my Jan newsletter so you can try and hopefully download great ARCs like RED GLOVE or WITHER:)

    ReplyDelete
  13. I don't suppose you could forward me the January Newsletter too, could you? I actually registered because I wanted to review Red Glove, but they randomly sent me Cryer's Cross (which I'm sure will be great, but wasn't really the point). I'm sorry to be cheeky - I know we're strangers!

  14. Thanks for the info!

I got the initial email and there was just an automatic download of a book. Glad to know I will, at some point, be receiving a newsletter although sad I missed the January group.

  15. Thanks for breaking this down. I've been wondering about this process for a while and haven't had any luck with it so far. Will go try now that you've explained it. Thanks a ton!

  16. Wow, that makes a lot more sense. Is there any way you could forward me the January newsletter? I completely missed it, and I'm dying for some of those titles.

  17. Is it possible that you could forward the Janaury newsletter to me as well? I got a random book too, but i've been dying to read Wither. Thank you!

  18. Thanks for sharing! I´ve just signed up too and received the Cryer´s cross :) Could you possibly forward me the newsletter too? I´m so curious about Wither and The Red Glove too! Thank you :)

  19. So informative! Thanks so much for posting this! I just got an invite to read Brandon Mull's books: Beyonders, and not the newsletter. I was SO confused until I read this. I guess I just need to wait for the monthly newsletter. :)

Now if I can just figure out how I applied, that would be great. I'm not sure where I got the link to apply for it in the first place! I have absolutely no memory of it, except that I did it!

  20. Thank you for this explanation!! I signed up via a random link last month, but I was all confused about the wording as well. I'm hearing some have and some haven't gotten Feb newsletters though? I know I haven't, but now I'm less concerned cause I wondered if I'd signed up wrong or something!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I didn't get a February newsletter, just one for January. Was there one??
Also, does anybody know what I do when I read and review a galley? Is there somewhere I can send the review link to?

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'm part of that too! If it's okay with you I'll also post about the GalleyGrab problems.

  23. Thank you so much for this post. I recently signed up and was so confused as to why I didn't have any books in my Adobe Reader!

By the way, do you happen to have the link for Wither still? I'm dying to read it!! You can email me at lisamparkin [at] gmail [dot] com.

    Thanks again!! :)

  24. Btw, I meant to say, *please* email me if you can, because that would be amazing. :D

  25. I've registered in January and still haven't got a newsletter. :( Could you tell me the address it was sent from? This is so frustrating! All I get, over and over again, is A World Without Heroes, while I actually want Wither, Darkness Becomes Her, etc. Grrrr.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Oh, and if you're still forwarding the newsletter, that would be amazing.

  27. You are totally my hero. I didn't understand the wording either. Thank you so much for being kind enough to make a post clearing this up. :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. So I am totally going to be a booger and also ask... Could you maybe forward me the January newsletter as well?!? Also (potentially silly question but I seriously have no idea) can you download the galleys to things like Kindles?

    Thanks so much!

  29. I'd like the January newsletter too if someone wouldn't mind forwarding.

Avery, I have Februarys if you need it.

Does anyone know what time of the month the newsletter usually comes out?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I would be pleased as punch to have January and February's newsletter sent to me if someone would be willing. :) I signed up today and got Cryer's Cross...but it's expired! So...no books. What a bummer. LOL. Thanks!

  31. Question: how did you get approved? What do you put in place of the "company" field?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hi, thanks for posting this info, I randomly googled about the galley grab because I saw it posted on another website, and your site came up. I went there to sign up though and I put in my info to "register' and it said that I was "rejected and maybe I didnt have permission to change what I was trying to change"... so not sure what I should do, I tried twice to sign up, and it gave me the same error message both times. I wasn't trying to change anything except to register. Has anyone else encountered this, and if so, how did they get around it? Any help would be much appreciated! :)

    by the way, new follower!

  34. Can these books be read on a kindle?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hey! Coming in way late on this, but wanted to say...thanks! I just got my invite and couldn't figure out why I kept getting a link to the galley of Cryer's Cross...now I know I need to wait for the next newsletter. Cheers and thanks again

    ReplyDelete
  36. Thanks for sharing!!
It's really hard for international bloggers to get their hands on books for review and while I know NetGalley and BookSneeze I haven't heard about GalleyGrab until now!
And now ... off to register on the site :-) !

    ReplyDelete
  37. How exactly can you get accepted? I really want to read "We'll Always Have Summer" by Jenny Han from them, and that is the only way.
What do you put under company and website in order to get accepted?
Could you please get me a copy of "We'll Always Have Summer" by Jenny Han if they have it on there? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  38. That was quick - already got my confirmation!
Now, does anybody know when these monthly newsletters are usually being sent out? I would hate having to wait for May ... thanks in advance!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hi Page Turner!

I recently got accepted to the eGalley program. I got an e-mail from S and S with a link to my first eGalley. It turned out to be Cryer's Cross by Lisa McMann. But because the book has already been released, the document was expired. Is there another way to get the first couple eGalleys?

    ReplyDelete
  40. @ Birgit Newsletters are usually sent out at the end of each month

@ TheDismalSate Your first newsletter will give you access to many more galleys:)

    ReplyDelete
  59. @ Ari Simon & Schuster usually sends the newsletter in the end of each month. You've got to wait some more days...

    ReplyDelete
  60. Thanks a lot, I'll just wait then :)

    ReplyDelete
  61. has the september newsletter come out yet? I haven't received it...

  68. Any word on the November newsletter? This is such a great idea but I wish there was more consistency!

    ReplyDelete
  69. hello! this has GREATLY helped! i think someone needs to tell S&S to rephrase some of their words. For the catalog, do we need to wait for once a month or how does it work? thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Hey, did you recieve any newsletter on the past few months? :| I didn't, and I don't know why :(

    ReplyDelete
  71. Hey Ari,

I've had the same problem! I never received December's newsletter and the January one hasn't arrived yet, either. I'm pretty sure I got the November one because I downloaded The Pledge, but I've missed out ever since. A lot of other bloggers have had the same kind of trouble. I don't know why this is happening, either! It's so sad to think of those wonderful titles we're missing out on...

    ReplyDelete
  72. Thank you very much for the explanation! :))
