First, a big thank you to the awesome Armchair BEA organisers. The page, posts, participants and events are a nice compensation for everyone not able to be in NYC this week. I didn't have time to do an Armchair BEA post yesterday. But today I want to share my favourite reads of 2012 so far and two BEA 2012 titles I want to count to my favourites soon!
Let's start with three of my favourite YA contempories. Wanderlove (Kirsten Hubbard) overwhelmed me with its fascinating and exotic scenery. The Fault In Our Stars (John Green) made me cry as much as no other book before. And When You Were Mine (Rebecca Serle) is a fresh and perfectly engaging new take on one of my favourite plays, Romeo and Juliet.
Insurgent (Veronica Roth) and City of Lost Souls (Cassandra Clare) were both on top of my list of most anticipated books of 2012 and they definitely didn't disappoint. Both authors belong to my favourites and it just felt so good to spend time with Jace & Clary and Tris & Four again. Another book that totally surprised me with its awesomeness is Shatter Me (Tahereh Mafi), a 2011 debut.
Two BEA 2012 books I'm sure will belong to my favourites soon are Stealing Parker (Miranda Kenneally) and The Raven Boys (Maggie Stiefvater).
If you could choose two BEA titles to land in your mailbox in the blink of an eye which would you pick?
I'd pick Stealing Parker too. I still have to read Chasing Jordan, but I hear it's great. I love Shatter Me too. Did you see the new cover that was revealed today? It's an eye with branches as eyelashes and a waterfall for tears. It's awesome looking but I don't think it fits the book very well.

I can't wait to read City of Lost Souls!! I am sure that will be going on my favorite list too.
ReplyDeleteYay for Cassandra Clare
DeleteOh, Wanderlove. <3 That book was absolutely fabulous. I just wish I had a finished copy... Of all the BEA titles, I'd choose Ten by Gretchen McNeil and The Diviners by Libba Bray. I have been drooling over those books for longer than I can remember!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read a book by Libba Bray so far, but I think I can't resist any longer. Great picks!
DeleteThanks for stopping by. I love your blog theme, especially the color. But, the background and imagery is just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I'm rereading City of Fallen Angels right now so I can read City of Lost Souls. I was just going to dive right into COLS, but I couldn't do it, lol.
Ohh thank you:)
DeleteI hope you enjoy City of Lost Souls as much as I did
I really want to read Raven Boys too. And you're right, City of Lost Sous was AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteTHE FAULT IN OUR STARS...soon, soon, SOON! Can't wait! I'm glad we both chose DIVERGENT! <3 Ack, I still have to read SHATTER ME, too. A friend hated it and it slipped down my list. This bumps it up again! Oh, yes, I'm looking FW to STEALING PARKER as well!!
ReplyDeleteThe Raven Boys sounds really good and I heard Maggie is a great writer. can't wait for it too.
ReplyDeleteThans for visiting Book Travels
Wanderlove and When You Were Mine are two of my 2012 faves! <3
ReplyDeleteAs for BEA books I really want to read Ten by Gretchen McNeil. Burn for Burn is another one that's right up there on my wishlist!
Wanderlove and TFiOS are on my list too, both wonderful and brilliant in their own right. TFiOS had me weeping hard, and Wanderlove gave me panic attacks because I was feeling so many things with it haha. A friend managed to snag both The Raven Boys and Stealing Parker today, and I am filled with so much jealous it is ridiculous haha.
ReplyDeleteMy Armchair BEA 2012 List
Boy I think John Green is on so many lists must be something pretty good within those pages.
ReplyDeleteHi, great list. :) I liked INSURGENT too, just not as much as DIVERGENT. (I think I just wanted more from the ending of INSURGENT.)
ReplyDeleteI am seeing a lot of love for Wanderlove. Might have to add that to my TBR list.
ReplyDeleteI did read Fault in Our Stars and did really enjoy it too.
I would like Stealing Parker and When You Were Mine.
