Coveresque feat. Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi (US vs. Swedish vs.German)

US                                        Swedish                                    German

SHATTER ME was an awesome read! And I'm very happy that I own a hardcover copy of this book, because it is gorgeous. It expresses power and it's so shiny. I like the cover model and the dominance and contrast of the white and greyish-black colors. And the font design is one of my favourites!

Did you notice the counting in the background of the Swedish cover? It's one important element of SHATTER ME. I always enjoy when cover designers decide to give small hints and show a bit of what the story will be like. But I don't like its cover model and colors as much as the US ones.
I think the Swedish title says "Don't touch me". Hope that translation's correct?

The German title means something like "I'm not afraid". The background isn't that bad, but I don't really like the figure in the cover centre since it was already used on the US cover of Leigh Fallon's CARRIER OF THE MARK.

Which do you like best?

The Swedish cover is also very good, because it mirrors the beginning of the stoy very good. An the title fits perfectly :)

  3. This is a nice idea of a post. ^^ I loved Shatter Me, it was really an awesome read! I agree with you that the US cover displays power and dominance, but I don't really like the cover model. If I had to chose, I'd take the Swedish one, I think it's the most fitting for the story. I like the colors, the model, and of couse that count in the back is just great! However, I am so disappointed in the German cover! Usually I find myself judging that the German covers are way better than US or UK ones, but this is simply a disaster. Yuck!

  4. i hate it so much, that german publishers are using popular covers, when a german edition is coming soon...they did this with so many books, for example...for "birthmarked" a publisher used the "glimmerglass" cover and so on and so on...its so uncreative and boring -.-

i like the us cover most, because thats how i imagine the main character and the hidden hands are just awsome :)

  5. The US is definitely my favorite. Ever since I saw it, I knew I had to have the book (and the story itself didn't disappoint a bit!). The Swedish looks good, too :)

  8. I really like the US cover...but I would say I like the German cover better if they hadn't already used it. Dang it! I'm not sure...hmmm....

  9. The Swedish cover sounds like it fits the book best, but the US is prettiest.
