Today I'm sharing my most anticipated books of 2015 with you. I'll make it a Top 15 because I'm including standalones and books in a series. Makes it not easier at all to choose between so many great new releases this year.
I've already read a few amazing 2015 releases which I'm not including here but I want to highly recommend to you. Those are
Things We Know by Heart by Jessi Kirby and
Finding Paris by Joy Preble. I also read
The Shadow Cabinet by Maureen Johnson and can tell you that you don't want to miss the third book in this ghostly YA series.
So here's my Top 15! Have you read any of them yet?
#15 Everything That Makes You by Moriah McStay
One girl. Two stories.
Meet Fiona Doyle. The thick ridges of scar tissue on her face are from
an accident twelve years ago. Fiona has notebooks full of songs she’s
written about her frustrations, her dreams, and about her massive crush
on beautiful uber-jock Trent McKinnon. If she can’t even find the
courage to look Trent straight in his beautiful blue eyes, she sure
isn’t brave enough to play or sing any of her songs in public. But
something’s changing in Fiona. She can’t be defined by her scars
anymore.
And what if there hadn’t been an accident? Meet Fi
Doyle. Fi is the top-rated female high school lacrosse player in the
state, heading straight to Northwestern on a full ride. She’s got more
important things to deal with than her best friend Trent McKinnon, who’s
been different ever since the kiss. When her luck goes south, even
lacrosse can’t define her anymore. When you’ve always been the best at
something, one dumb move can screw everything up. Can Fi fight back?
♥ This is a 2015 debut I'm very much looking forward to. I love stories that show you alternate outcomes to the same story. I have the galley on my Kindle and should be getting to it pretty soon.
#14 The Replaced (The Taking #2) by Kimberly Derting
Romantic and action-packed, The Replaced is the gripping second installment in the Taking trilogy.
Kyra
hasn't been the same since she returned from her mysterious five-year
disappearance. Now, on the run from the NSA, Kyra is forced to hide out
with others who, like her, have been Returned. Yet she is determined to
find Tyler, the boy she loves who was also abducted—all because of her.
When her group intercepts a message that Tyler might still be alive but
is in the hands of a shadowy government organization that experiments on
the Returned, Kyra knows it's a risk to go after him. What if it's a
trap? And worse, what if the returned Tyler isn't the same boy she lost?
♥ I'm a big fan of Kimberly Derting's writing and loved THE TAKING. I really need to know what happened to Tyler, ahh!
#13 Get Dirty (Don't Get Mad #2) by Gretchen McNeil
The members of Don’t
Get Mad aren’t just mad anymore . . . they’re afraid. And with Margot in
a coma and Bree stuck in juvie, it’s up to Olivia and Kitty to try to
catch their deadly tormentor. But just as the girls are about to go on
the offensive, Ed the Head reveals a shocking secret that turns all
their theories upside down. The killer could be anyone, and this time
he—or she—is out for more than just revenge.
The girls
desperately try to discover the killer’s identity as their personal
lives are falling apart: Donté is pulling away from Kitty and seems to
be hiding a secret of his own, Bree is under house arrest, and Olivia’s
mother is on an emotional downward spiral. The killer is closing in, the
threats are becoming more personal, and when the police refuse to
listen, the girls have no choice but to confront their anonymous friend .
. . or die trying.
♥ If you read the first book in this dulogy and remember how it ended, you know why I so desperately want to get my hands on a copy of the sequel.
#12 The Summer After You and Me by Jennifer Salvato Doktorski
Sunbathing, surfing,
eating funnel cake on the boardwalk—Lucy loves living on the Jersey
Shore. For her, it's not just the perfect summer escape, it is home. And
as a local girl, she knows not to get attached to the tourists. They
breeze in over Memorial Day weekend, crowding the shore and stealing
moonlit kisses, only to pack up their beach umbrellas and empty promises
on Labor Day. Lucy wants more from love than a fleeting romance, even
if that means keeping her distance from her summertime neighbor and
crush, Connor.
Then Superstorm Sandy tears apart her barrier
island, briefly bringing together a local girl like herself and a
vacationer like Connor. Except nothing is the same in the wake of the
storm. And day after day, week after week, Lucy is left to pick up the
pieces of her broken heart and broken home. Now with Memorial Day
approaching and Connor returning, will it be a summer of fresh starts or
second chances?
♥ This sounds like a very emotional read! I love Jennifer's writing and can't wait to read her next book. Also, beautiful cover!
#11 The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord
Following her pitch-perfect debut Open Road Summer, Emery Lord pens another gorgeous story of best friends, new love, & second chances.
It’s
been a year since it happened—when Paige Hancock’s first boyfriend died
in an accident. After shutting out the world for a year, Paige is
finally ready for a second chance at high school . . . and she has a
plan. First: Get her old crush, Ryan Chase, to date her—the perfect way
to convince everyone she’s back to normal. Next: Join a club—simple,
it’s high school after all. But when Ryan’s sweet, nerdy cousin, Max,
moves to town and recruits Paige for the Quiz Bowl team (of all things!)
her perfect plan is thrown for a serious loop. Will Paige be able to
face her fears and finally open herself up to the life she was meant to
live?
Brimming with heartfelt relationships and authentic high-school dynamics The Start of Me and You proves that it’s never too late for second chances.
♥ I only recently read Emery Lord's OPEN ROAD SUMMER and am so in love with her writing. This sounds like a perfect summer read!
#10 Jesse's Girl by Miranda Kenneally
Practice Makes Perfect.
Everyone
at Hundred Oaks High knows that career mentoring day is a joke. So when
Maya Henry said she wanted to be a rock star, she never imagined she’d
get to shadow *the* Jesse Scott, Nashville’s teen idol.
But
spending the day with Jesse is far from a dream come true. He’s as
gorgeous as his music, but seeing all that he’s accomplished is just a
reminder of everything Maya’s lost: her trust, her boyfriend, their
band, and any chance to play the music she craves. Not to mention that
Jesse’s pushy and opinionated. He made it on his own, and he thinks
Maya’s playing back up to other people’s dreams. Does she have what it
takes to follow her heart—and go solo?
♥ No explanation needed, right? Miranda Kenneally is one of my absolute favourite YA contemporary authors. Can't wait to meet that rock star!
#9 The Ruby Circle (Bloodlines #6) by Richelle Mead
The epic conclusion to Richelle Mead's New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series is finally here...
Sydney
Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and
serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire
secrets—and human lives.
After their secret romance is exposed,
Sydney and Adrian find themselves facing the wrath of both the
Alchemists and the Moroi in this electrifying conclusion to Richelle
Mead’s New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series. When the life of
someone they both love is put on the line, Sydney risks everything to
hunt down a deadly former nemesis. Meanwhile, Adrian becomes enmeshed
in a puzzle that could hold the key to a shocking secret about spirit
magic, a secret that could shake the entire Moroi world.
♥ Since I finished my VAMPIRE ACADEMY binge read I've been waiting for the last book in the BLOODLINES series to be released so I could experience the fun again that is a binge read!
#8 Untitled (Starbound #3) by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner
♥ THESE BROKEN STARS was my favourite book of 2013 and I really enjoyed its sequel THIS SHATTERED WORLD. Now I'm dying to read the third book in the STARBOUND series to find out how everything comes to an end.
#7 P.S. I Still Love You (To All the Boys I've Loved Before #2) by Jenny Han
Lara Jean didn’t expect to really fall for Peter.
She and Peter were just pretending. Except suddenly they weren’t. Now Lara Jean is more confused than ever.
When
another boy from her past returns to her life, Lara Jean’s feelings for
him return too. Can a girl be in love with two boys at once?
In this charming and heartfelt sequel to the New York Times bestseller To All the Boys I've Loved Before,
we see first love through the eyes of the unforgettable Lara Jean. Love
is never easy, but maybe that’s part of makes it so amazing.
♥ I was so happy to find out there would be a sequel to TO ALL THE BOYS I'VE LOVED BEFORE. I really need to read more about Lara Jean and Peter's cute romance and hope this book is about their story and not about the things keeping them apart.
#6 After Hours by Claire Kennedy
Isa, Xavi, Peter, and
Finn know that a job at the high-end Waterside Cafe isn't just about
waiting tables. It's about the gossip, the hook-ups, the after-hours
parties and, most of all, it's about Tips.
Tips--the high-stakes
game based on dares. Whoever completes the most dares wins the collected
money. A sum that could change a wasted summer into a Summer to
Remember.
Isa is the new girl with an embarrassing secret, and as
long as she stays on top of her game, she sees no reason why anyone
could ever find out.
Xavi will do anything for the money...absolutely anything.
Peter,
Xavi's stepbrother, has been in love with her for years, and he thinks
the game is the perfect time to confess his feelings.
Finn is in
the game just for the thrill. He has enough tips coming in to keep him
happy...even if those tips come with some conditions.
From seduction to stealing to threats, the dares are a complete free-for-all, and only the best can win. The sophisticated Waterside Cafe is anything but classy behind the scenes...and things are about to get dirty.
♥ AFTER HOURS sounds like a fun read and I am hoping for some sizzling romance.
#5 Last Year's Mistake by Gina Ciocca
Before:
Kelsey and
David became best friends the summer before freshman year and were
inseparable ever after. Until the night a misunderstanding turned Kelsey
into the school joke, and everything around her crumbled—including her
friendship with David. So when Kelsey's parents decided to move away,
she couldn't wait to start over and leave the past behind. Except, David
wasn't ready to let her go...
After:
Now it's senior year and
Kelsey has a new group of friends, genuine popularity, and a hot
boyfriend. Her life is perfect. That is, until David's family moves to
town and he shakes up everything. Soon old feelings bubble to the
surface and threaten to destroy Kelsey's second chance at happiness. The
more time she spends with David, the more she realizes she never truly
let him go. And maybe she never wants to.
Told in alternating sections, LAST YEAR'S MISTAKE is a charming and romantic debut about loving, leaving, and letting go.
♥ Another debut novel and Kelsey and David's love story sounds very cute.
#4 The Boy Most Likely To by Huntley Fitzpatrick
Surprises abound and sparks ignite in the highly anticipated, utterly romantic companion to My Life Next Door
Tim Mason was The Boy Most Likely To:
- find the liquor cabinet blindfolded
- need a liver transplant
- drive his car into a house
Alice Garrett was The Girl Most Likely To:
- well, not date her little brother’s baggage-burdened best friend, for starters.
For
Tim, it wouldn’t be smart to fall for Alice. For Alice, nothing could
be scarier than falling for Tim. But Tim has never been known for making
the smart choice, and Alice is starting to wonder if the “smart” choice
is always the right one. When these two crash into each other, they
crash hard.
Then the unexpected consequences of Tim’s wild days
come back to shock him. He finds himself in a situation that isn’t all
it appears to be, that he never could have predicted . . . but maybe
should have.
And Alice is caught in the middle.
Told in
Tim’s and Alice’s distinctive, disarming, entirely compelling voices,
this return to the world of My Life Next Door is a story about failing
first, trying again, and having to decide whether to risk it all once
more.
♥ MY LIFE NEXT DOOR is one of my favourite contemporary romances and I am thrilled to read the companion novel this year. This can't be anything but amazing!
#3 The Boy Next Door by Katie Van Ark
Maddy Spier has been in
love with the boy next door forever. As his figure skating partner she
spends time in his arms every day. But she’s also seen his arms around
other girls—lots of other girls.
Gabe can't imagine skating
with anyone but Maddy, and together they have a real chance at winning
some serious gold medals. So, he’s determined to keep thinking of her
like a sister. After all, he’s never had a romantic relationship that
lasted for more than two weeks.
But when their coach assigns a
new romantic skating program, everything changes. Will this be the big
break that Maddy’s been hoping for or the big breakup that Gabe has
always feared?
♥ I've been wanting to read THE BOY NEXT DOOR since I spotted it at Frankfurt Book Fair last year and I only have to wait a few short days until I get to read it now. So exicted!
#2 Lady Midnight (The Dark Artifices #1) by Cassandra Clare
Los Angeles. It’s been
five years since the events of the Mortal Instruments when Nephilim
stood poised on the brink of oblivion and Shadowhunter Emma Carstairs
lost her parents. After the blood and violence she witnessed as a child,
Emma has dedicated her life to to discovering exactly what it was that
killed her parents and getting her revenge.
Raised in the Los
Angeles Institute with the Blackthorn family, Emma is paired as a
parabatai with her best friend, Julian Blackthorn. A series of murders
in the city catch her attention — they seem to have the same
characteristics as the deaths of her parents. Could the murderer be the
same person? And her attention isn’t the only one caught: someone has
been murdering Downworlders as well. The Fair Folk make a deal with the
Institute: if the Blackthorns and Emma will investigate the killings,
they’ll return Mark Blackthorn to his home. The catch: they have only
two weeks to find the killers. Otherwise it’s open war between faeries
and Nephilim.
The Shadowhunters of the Institute must race
against time to catch the killers, even as they begin to suspect the
involvement of those closest to them. At the same time, Emma is falling
in love with the one person in the world she’s absolutely forbidden by
Shadowhunter Law to love. Set against the glittering backdrop of
present-day Los Angeles, Emma must learn to trust her head and her heart
as she investigates a demonic plot that stretches from the warlock-run
nightclubs of the Sunset Strip to the enchanted sea that pounds the
beaches of Santa Monica.
♥ New Shadowhunter stories! I love that Cassandra Clare is writing a new series. I loved Emma and Julian in CITY OF HEAVENLY FIRE and can't wait to read more about their new relationship as young adults.
#1 Untitled (Firebird #2) by Claudia Gray
♥ I read A THOUSAND PIECES OF YOU in the end of 2014. I never expected to like it as much as I did and in the end I picked it as my favourite book of 2014. So no wonder I'm highly anticipating its sequel this fall.
