Coveresque feat. Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier (US vs. French vs. German)

Tell me, which  cover do you like best?  US on the left, we've got the French cover in the middle and the German one on the right side. The US and German covers present Kerstin Gier's book in a playful way whereas the French RUBY RED cover suggests a rather dark and mysterious read.

  1. I find myself being more drawn to the french version, maybe because it hints at a mysterious read. The US version with it's silver foiling is also beautiful.

  2. I also find the french cover most alluring, although I do like the original German cover, too :)

  3. I Cover VS Cover'd this one a few weeks ago... I still have to go with the German one. It's the most fun by far! The French cover reminds me of Fallen, and I don't really see what it has in common with Ruby Red.

  4. Well, the cover of the US Version is nice. The details are lovely. But honestly? I still LOVE the original German cover. It's just the best. :D

  5. Wow, I think this is a very rare case of "I can't decide which cover I like best". All three, to me, are eye catching.
So I pick all of them :)

  6. I just love, love, LOVE the original German covers! The US comes in at a close second. But I honestly do not like the French cover at all. It looks a little too much like so many other book covers. It's not very unique. The US and German ones just stand out!

  8. I like the French cover best. It looks more inviting and mysterious and the US and German cover aren't something I'd pick in a bookstore regardless of the story.

  9. The German one! The US and French covers already look like a billion other covers out there. Seriously, if I could read anything in German other than "achtung" and "danke" then I would totally buy the german copy. Heck, I might buy it anyway!

  10. I like all three. The US cover is BEAUTIFUL, but I find myself drawn to the mysterious French cover...!

  13. The French Cover ist nice, but for another story, because for me Ruby Rred isn't a dark or mysterious novel, it's funny and romantic.

And I definetly don't like the girl on the US Cover, my Gwen looks totally different. ;-)

For me the german Cover is the best! It fit's the story perfectly.

  14. I prefer the cover U.S. cover on the left. It gives it a elegant look. The middle one gives a totally different feel and the third one just looks average .

  21. I don´t like the French cover, i think it´s TOO mystery and dark. But it isn´t simple to choose one of the others they both so beautiful!!! Maybe the German cover express the story a bit better, but the US cover is so wonderful because of its elegance;
Anyway, I think I prefer the German one

  24. I like the german cover because I can read it :D
JOKE! I think it's dainty and it showes what Kerstin Gier feel about the books! The cover really presents what is in the book! And Gwendolyn and Gideon look so raawwww!

The frech and the american don't show the friendly romantic side of the story, just the seriouse side.
    Nur Original ist legal :D

  27. I defenitly prefer the german cover (maybe because I am from germany;) because it describes the story the best way, it's pretty and and dreamy ... but I also like the US cover - it also shows the dreamy expressions of the book ...
and the french one, well, it's gorgeous, of course, but it's to dark and to mysterious, even the most thrilling scene in the book isn't THAT dark
you should look for the other german covers, they're even more beautiful :)

  28. ich mag auf jeden fall das deutsche cover am liebsten, weil das französische sowie das amerikanische überhaupt nicht zu story passen. außerdem sehen die beiden aus wie 'ne millionen andere cover auf der welt. also, absolut das deutsche (:

  29. I think the german one is the best. Okey I am from Germany so I read the orginal but the STory is in german the same who in the US or in France!
The story is about Gwendolyn AND Gideon and at the German Cover you can see that! The Frence one is too dark: The book isn't dark!
And the US one i find it is so... alone! And Gwendolyn (This little pic) isn't gwendolyn I find

    The German one ;D

  30. From the very beginning, Ruby Red dishes out the mystique and intrigue, and has you dying to read more. I had serious problems putting this book down to either sleep or go to work. I am definitely a sucker for time-travel novels, and I really love the unique premise Kerstin Gier created. Time-traveling is limited to only a very few people - women from one ancestry, men from another. They are all connected to a complicated riddle about precious gems and special magical abilities. There is a special chronograph used to control the time and place of time-travel, and it requires the blood of all twelve travelers throughout history to be "complete". What happens when it is complete is still a mystery, though I think I'm siding with Gwen that it seems a little sinister.

Gwen herself is a delightful main character. She is very much so a normal girl. Her and her best friend are amazingly close, and they do what most girlfriends do. They watch movies and drool over hot guys. I also appreciated the fact that Gwen was not a secretly brilliant student, bubbling over with a wealth of knowledge. In fact, she doesn't pay attention in history, and she easily forgets important dates. Not the best trait for time-traveling safety. You feel almost as overwhelmed as Gwen in those first moments of uncontrolled travel. Not knowing where you are, totally unprepared to be thrust back into time? Pretty scary. Gwen also has the ability to see and talk to ghosts - she's particular friends with a young gentleman who used to live at her school. And along with ghosts, she can also see gargoyles. Gargoyles weren't necessarily explained very well in this one, but I hope we see some sort of development in this area. Having your own cute gargoyles following you around seems absolutely wonderful! (Not to mention she apparently has Hello Kitty pj's, which totally makes her awesome in my book.)

  31. I think the german cover is the best!It was the funniest cover and the book is at most funny.
The french cover is too seriously, dark and mysterious.
The US one is too eleganly.

I'm sorry of my spelling, but I'm only twelve and from Germany.
