Coveresque feat. City of Glass by Cassandra Clare (US vs. Italian vs. German)
Tell me, which City of Glass cover do you like best? US on the left, (because the UK is identical to the US cover) we've got the Italian cover in the middle and the German one on the right side. I've got my favourite, which do you prefer?
Oh, I'm definitely going to have to go with the original US cover though I really like the German cover. The middle one is pretty, but I don't connect it as much.
Totally love the US one - this is my favorite !! I also like the simplicity of the Italien one but I don't like at all the German one... I wouldn't read that one!
I like the German one because it is not a typical YA novel cover. I really, REALLY don't like the new trend in today's Young Adult book covers. I prefer the old-school fantasy covers like the John Howe covers for The Lord of the Rings
None of them really impress me all that much. Of the three, I suppose I like the US cover best, although I wish they'd remove the Stephenie Meyer quote from the center.
Hmm…It's hard not to be partial to what you're already use to seeing. Being that I've read the book already (US cover), I've already identified with the cover and related it in my own way to the story. I have to say that knowing what the story is about, I cannot relate the story to the other covers at all. Though I do think the cover in the middle is very intriguing and I think it would draw me in if I saw it sitting on the shelf.
And let me just say, I LOVE the Coveresque post you have. It nice to see the different perspective other countries have on covers.
I think the US Cover is the best. Because for me the German cover looks a bit like a childrens book and all the blue is just not me. The Italien cover with black and white, is very simpel which often is good. But in this one I just think it looks wrong, can´t explain why. :)
Have to say the Italian cover is my favorite:) I don't care for the German cover at all reminds me of Ink heart and personally I didn't like that book at all I do really like us since I'm used to that cover but the Italian one to me is the best
I'm sorry but I have to disagree with everyone saying that the US cover "fits the story best". It's unclear who's on the cover: is it Alec? Is it Sebastian (most likely but still)? And the Irdis/Alicante/City of Glass doesn't look at all how Cassie described it in her books. German one for me!

ReplyDeletethe US cover...
ReplyDeleteit fits perfectly with the story...
I like the atmosphere on the Italian one. but think the US one is marketed perfectly to the western world :)

The italian one is gorgeous but the US version has to be my favorite. It just fit the story the best. :)

ReplyDeleteI like the US cover just fine but wow I'm in love with the German cover now.
ReplyDeleteThe Italian one is gorgeous but the US one suits the story better.
ReplyDeleteThe US cover all the way. I don't really like the German cover, I'm afraid-- doesn't really capture the feel of the story.
ReplyDeleteI have such a hard time deciding, I think they all look fab!

ReplyDeletel haven't read this book so can't judge which suits the best storyline but l love the middle one! That cover would make me pick it up.
ReplyDeleteGreat post!
The original is great, but that guy on the Italian cover is smokin' ... so I like that one also!
